PANJIM: Villagers of Merces-Tiswadi, along with the panchayat members on Monday, marched to the Public Works Department office to find out the cause for irregular supply of water.
The villagers have complained that for last two months water supply is irregular and this is causing inconvenience to the people and elderly. They also complained that water is being released in some parts at midnight or early in the morning.
Merces sarpanch Prakash Naik said people have been facing such issues for the past two months and the panchayat was being blamed for not initiating action in the interest of the villagers.
“We met the Public Works Department assistant engineer and he assured us that the issue of water will be resolved within a week. We will wait for a week and if Public Works Department fails than it will turn into protest,” he said.
Public Works Department assistant engineer Prashant Gawade said he will monitor the water situation in Merces. He said some parts at the tail end face the problem due to the water pressure.
