PONDA: Locals heaved a sigh of relief on Thursday as the Opa-Khandepar new bridge on the National Highway (NH) is set to get a ramp, four years after it was inaugurated without an approach road.
Similarly, an underpass will be constructed on the NH near KTC bus stand along with service road at a cost of Rs 72 crore.

Following accident at Opa junction on Wednesday involving a container truck, trolley and scooter, O Heraldo contacted NH Authorities to inquire about the pending work of Khandepar Bridge.
The officials said the work was pending as ramp road matter was subjudice. But now the issue has been resolved and tender has been floated. The work order will be given next month and the contractor will begin work on ramp of new Khandepar Bridge as well as underpass at KTC bus stand. Both the works are expected to be completed by December this year.
The Khandepar new bridge was constructed four years back and was inaugurated without a ramp. Following this, traffic was diverted through service road and also through old bridge, causing lot of hardships to commuters.
Similarly, four years back, the KTC bus stand junction leading to Khandepar became a four-lane road. However, the underpass could not be constructed near KTC Bus stand junction as historic Safa Masjid is located close to the site.
