CANACONA: District legal services in association with taluka legal services committee held a programme to make senior citizens aware of their concessional rights, privileges and benefits on Thursday in municipal hall at Chaudi in Canacona.
The camp was held to educate the senior citizens of their rights and privileges they are enshrined as per the Indian constitution. Canacona Police Inspector Rajendra Prabhudesai discussed the problems faced by the senior citizens and spoke about the complaints they receive from senior citizens and what action they take on those complains.
Simon Rebello, the president of Palolem United Trust and ex-chairperson of Canacona municipality, was invited as a special guest.
Rebello said that senior citizens are the part and parcel of the civil society and they must be considered as state property.
