The universe is an awesome splendour of God’s creation. The creator of this beautiful earth is truly glorious and worthy of all praises for blessing us with incredible beauty, natural resources and life. Humans are totally dependent on water, soil, oil, wood, minerals and petroleums. These natural resources are gifted by God abundantly to mankind for their survival, however, human beings are continuously involved in exploiting and destroying the natural resources extensively in the name of civilisation, urbanisation and industrialisation.
People are not realising that they are misusing the natural resources which are leading to its scarcity. Though men have used the natural resources for their sustainability, welfare and development, natural resources like coal, minerals, oils and petroleums are depleting and exhausting as it is extracted beyond limit. It is now the need of the hour that these non renewable resources must be used within their limit or otherwise it will never be found in future.
We have now reached at a dire stage to conserve and preserve the natural resources for our own long term benefits and for the well-being of the future generation. It is advisable to focus on renewable resources which can be deployed wisely and innovatively, create means and forms to reduce the burden on them.
Let us get the facts straight. Due to increasing level of industrialisation, the deterioration of natural resources, erosion of soil, depleting underground water, impure hazardous rising air, water pollution, deforestation and several other key environmental factors have caused a major threat for the environment. Deforestation is becoming a big concern to mankind. Scientists speculate that our future generations will not be able to breathe enough clean air in the years to come.
People have suddenly begun to consider that progress cannot occur without massacring the natural resources. We must sincerely ask ourselves these questions? Do we really need all these developments at the cost of our Mother Nature?
The inexhaustible greed of our politicians in league with business class is mainly responsible for the impact on the environment. These are the bunch of irresponsible people, whose aim is only to make profits for themselves.
Unplanned cutting of trees to make way for roads and highways have ruined our scenic villages. Now if the Government is determined to make Goa a major coal hub of the country then we are likely to see the end to marine life. The wilderness of Goa will be wiped out causing an irrevocable damage to its ecosystem. People will suffer severe respiratory problems due to polluted air from coal dust. Certainly in this scenario, change can happen only when all Goemkars come together and take to the streets and unitedly fight to protect this unique God-given, “The Pearl of the Orient”. “We don’t have a society if we destroy the environment.” is a well known proverb which explains that life cannot exist without nature.
Our lovely planet is in desperate need of love and attention. We all should shoulder the responsibility to keep the environment clean, healthy and safe. Love the Mother Nature and it will love you back. The choice is ours!!!
