Further to the memorandum handed over by the Calangute Congress Block Committee (CCBC) regarding the exorbitant electricity bills to the locals, as reported in Herald dated July 24, I have one more issue for CCBC to take up and I hope it will do the needful.
In Candolim there is a small Vaddo called Araddy which is now splitted into Old Araddy and New Araddy, the New Araddy is converted into a migrant colony by the interested persons as vote bank for them. This colony, according to my information, is infested with all sorts of risky elements posing risk even to the entire village of Candolim. It is alleged that the local Congress leadership is responsible for this.
Secondly and more importantly this colony is converted into a garbage dumping spot because of which the entire area is subjected to unbearable stench and its gravity in the monsoon is more severe leading even to the spread of different types of diseases and sicknesses. Currently as informed, a few residents of this area are afflicted with these sicknesses.
In view of this, I request the CCBC and others too who are on public platform mainly from Candolim to bring out this filthy happenings in Araddy to the notice of the concerned authorities by submitting a memorandum to create a healthy atmosphere for the residents there to live a healthy life. While tackling this issue, it would be necessary to expose the culprit behind all the filthy and wrong doings in New Araddy.
