During the parliamentary sessions under UPA regime, some of the bills were introduced in the parliament but the ruling regime could pass only a few bills as NDA which was the opposition party then, disrupted the parliamentary sessions after sessions. Whether it was valid or invalid but the fact of the matter is that they disrupted the parliamentary sessions. One of the NDA members said that the parliamentary practice of disruption of proceedings is legitimate.
Interestingly most of the television channels were supporting the opposition parties then. The anchors of these same television channels argued that it is the duty of the ruling regime to run the parliament efficaciously. Today, the NDA is ruling with an absolute majority. Two parliamentary sessions went on well and they passed certain crucial bills during those sessions. Television channels said nothing positive about the opposition parties then. But there is disruption of the parliament during the present monsoon session.
Today the same television channels changed their stand. They do not say anymore that it is the duty of the ruling regime to run the parliamentary session efficaciously. On the contrary they blame opposition parties for disrupting the proceedings of the parliament. They argue that disruption of parliament is not good for parliamentary democracy. Viewers can easily guess how in-congruent these television channels are!
Undoubtedly, disruption for the sake of disruption is not at all conducive to the functioning of the parliament. Disruption of parliamentary sessions was a weapon of the NDA then. What goes around comes around. Today, interestingly they get beating by the same weapon.
