Adopt work ethics & get career rewards
Your personal development and growth in any company will enhance with your work ethics, managing processes and principles.
Many a time, we get confused and entangled learning on someone’s growth not matching his or her educational background, but one should not forget that he or she must have religiously adored the work ethics, worked in line with the principles, policies and procedure, which may look like a tortoise, but gradually he/she wins the race.
One must also remember, work ethic is a set of moral principles an employee uses in his job, certain factors like loyalty, emphasis on quality, integrity, discipline, team work, trust and sense of responsibility come together to create a strong work ethic.
Work ethics emphasise better productivity and ultimately help in economic growth and help one grow ethically. On the flip side, work ethics are not to please a certain person or group of people, but will rise naturally within you and will develop the more you are true to your heart by being honest as much as you can to be yourself. We all have potential strength to overcome the challenges that will come to us. Let us understand that “Perfection is an illusion but we can all aim for it.” Make mistakes but learn from them so that we don’t repeat the same mistakes twice. Never quietly, silently, patiently tolerate the wrong too.
Personally, I define work ethics as the desire (not ability) to put work first when trying to decide among competing priorities. Good work ethic is characterised as someone who doesn’t waste time taking care of personal tasks on company time, who goes above what is required (work hours, responsibility), making decisions based on what’s best for the company versus what’s best for self.

A salute to the fire-fighters
Today, April 14, is ‘National Fire Service Day’. It is a day to pay homage to the courageous fire-fighters who sacrificed their lives while performing their duties as they follow their motto “Serve to save lives and property” as also to conduct awareness programs in order to avoid fire incidents. This year’s theme is “Learn Fire Safety, Increase Productivity”. When we speak of ‘Fire Service’ the one thing that comes to mind is that of the fire personnel fighting to douse a fire. However, it must be said that the fire personnel carry out multi-tasking activity as well.
Besides attending to fire calls they also attend to emergency calls. These firemen were the frontline workers when Covid-19 pandemic hit Goa severely. The fire personnel were there to lend a helping hand during the cyclonic storm Tauktae which made a landfall in the Arabian Sea in May 2021. It is learnt that the fire personnel were reportedly kept on their toes attending to emergency calls pertaining to uprooting of trees on the roads, residential areas, electric poles, etc. The value of property saved by these brave souls could run in crores of rupees.
The personnel also provided necessary help for citizens who were stranded due to the storm. Firemen not only answer major emergency calls but also help in minor incidents like saving a stray animal having fallen in an open well, etc. A salute to these bravehearts who many-a-times are taken for granted. They carry out almost the same task that army personnel do during peace times.

Introduce Bhagavad Gita in school syllabus
The government should include the Bhagavad Gita in school syllabus. The Union government’s National Education Policy-2020, had recommended for the introduction of modern and ancient culture, traditions and knowledge systems in school curriculum so that the students feel proud of India’s rich and diverse culture.
The aim to introduce the values and principles enshrined in the Bhagavad Gita in school curriculum. It should not be seen from a religious point of view but how human values can be upheld by studying the Gita. Introducing Bhagavad Gita in school syllabus would cultivate a sense of pride and connection to traditions.
And the values and principles enshrined in the Bhagavad Gita in school curriculum advocates the introduction of modern and ancient cultures, traditions and knowledge systems which is to be proud of our rich and diverse culture.

Remembering Babasaheb Ambedkar
Let us not forget to pay homage today to our adored Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, the Father of our Indian Constitution on his birth Anniversary. We need to be reminded that Dr Ambedkar who was a symbol of knowledge must never have visualised that thick skinned persons with never ending greed for power and wealth would ever be occupying high constitutional posts.
Seeing the sagging levels to which the political spectrum is stooping, we can only remind those in power of those words of Joel Osteen “You can live your life angry, bitter, mad at somebody or even guilty, not letting go of your own mistakes, but you won’t receive the good things God has in store”.
And when will our politicians be inspired by what the great American writer Alfred Armand Montapert had to say “The main source of our wealth is goodness. The affections and the generous qualities that God admires in a world full of greed”.
The final thoughts of this anniversary of Dr Ambedkar are best remembered in his wise thoughts; “If you ask me my ideal would be the society based on liberty, equality and fraternity.”

Ropeway horror
A cable-car accident at an Indian pilgrimage in Jharkhand killed at least three persons and left dozens dangling in mid-air, and it was a gruesome disaster with a rescue operation underway using air force helicopters. Around 48 people were travelling along a steep incline leading up to the Trikut hills in eastern Jharkhand state when three cars crashed and made everyone thinking of an end.
The State government was solely responsible for the lapse. The authorities are bent upon making money and not much worried about the maintenance. It was pathetic to see people hanging round on the rope and not willing to leave the rope at any moment. It was indeed survival of the fittest. The accident was sad and painful. The State government did not care about the lives of the people. As a matter of fact, a delayed decision-making saw passengers hanging in the midair overnight. It was a tragic accident and the religious places have become a place of horror due to the carelessness in administration.
Ropeway horror is one such mishap in which the travellers had a hell of a time and an unforgettable experience to remember during their lifetime.

Push for peace and stability
The election of Shehbaz Sharif as the new Pakistan Prime Minister brings the curtains down on the political uncertainty that had gripped the nation following the introduction of a no-confidence motion against the Imran Khan government. After swearing-in, Sharif flagged Kashmir in his maiden address to the House, remarking that there can be no durable peace without resolving Kashmir. Sharif also criticised Imran Khan for not making any serious efforts when India abrogated Article 370. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Sharif on his elevation to the top post and pushed for peace and stability in a region “free of terror”.
