Vest for workers

There are several workers of the various municipalities or the Panchayat bodies and even the PWD workers and workers of the electricity department who work on the roads. The sweepers of the civic bodies are seen sweeping the streets, the electricity workers climb the poles while the PWD workers could be digging the roads for some underground work.
Such workers do face occupational hazard as they could be hit by a moving vehicle. While most of them wear their respective uniforms, it would be advisable for these workers to also wear green colored fluorescent vests over their normal uniform. This way they will be clearly differentiated as workers who are at work on the roads and the streets by the vehicular drivers and the general public.
In foreign countries every worker who works on the roads has to mandatorily wear such fluorescent green vests. It is seen that the workers of the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) are provided with such fluorescent green vests. Other municipalities, panchayats and government departments should also provide such vests to the workers who work out-door on the streets. Even those engaged in the door-to-door collection of garbage should also be provided with such vests with the initials of the respective municipal body or the panchayat printed on the back.
