BJP’s anti-people schemes

The BJP in Goa is running hell for leather in pushing anti-people projects on fast track with the sole intention of raking in ill-gotten ‘moolah’  by selling precious resources to the well heeled outsiders.
A case in point is the allotment of land to Leading Hotels for construction of a golf course and villa project  in the eco-fragile zone of Tiracol where inspite of a huge protest rally by practically the whole of Goa, the CM has the temerity of stating that he has accepted money for land conversion and that the project will go on stream with all statutory clearances in place.
The other controversial project is the fast tracking of the proposed Mopa airport where sizable investments are made by politicians waiting in the wings to make a killing consequent upon the proposed Greenfield airport becoming a reality. Here too social activists and the social justice arm of the Archdiocese of Goa spearheaded by Fr Eremito Rebelo are clamoring for the stalling of the project as Goa due to its sheer size does not warrant a second airport.
The third bone of contention is the proposed anti-fishermen’s project of having marinas, hot air balloons and seaplanes across the river Mandovi, Arabian sea and the coastal beach areas. This project if it fructifies will cater only to the high heeled tourists without any incremental benefit to the fishing community and locals.
Added to that are the unwarranted rumbling and mumbling of the ruling coalition members of the ilk of Tourism Minister, Agriculture Minister, CM, PWD Minister and the Factories Minister who pass fleeting pathetic references which do not bode well of our identity, culture, ethos and time-tested traditions,
The BJP outfit in Goa knows very well that it is on its last leg of power and with the assembly elections slated in 2017 they are well aware that they do not stand a ghost of a chance of returning to power due to their anti Goa-centric policies.
