Christmas, a time to celebrate love

God in his infinite mercy stooped low for the love of mankind. He became incarnate in the person of Jesus to reveal himself in human flesh that we may know and accept him. This love of God is celebrated at Christmas, the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem. It is a universal celebration people celebrate with joy, religious fervour and tradition recalling the first Christmas night 2000 years ago. It was a night of wonder when Mary’s child Jesus was born and the angels were singing of love and joy. The festivity brings together members of the family and friends, from far and near, to renew and strengthen their relationship making Christmas a time to cherish and to remember.
It’s Christmas time again, this year too, as was it in the past! One can tell by the smile on the faces of the people. Shops and malls, markets too are getting overcrowded. Elders are busy at home with various kind of work, lady of the house planning a sumptuous family Christmas lunch, children go carol singing door to door bringing in joy of the season reminding the older generation that the spirit of Christmas is still alive and it doesn’t die. All round the Christmas tree little ones go round and round looking for Santa Claus in a bid to catch him for their favorite Christmas gift. A brightly lit star atop every Christian household culminates into the final touch of Christmas preparation heralding the message: Joy to the world. Jesus the Son of God is King of Peace, Savior of the world.
But for the first time in the history of secular India, Good Governance Day on Christmas disturbed the mood of the Christian community. As one teacher rightly said: if we have to leave behind all celebration, our family, relatives and friends and go to school, what are we enjoying? She added further, on teachers’ day too we were made to attend school. It speaks of imbecility of those who want to decimate the secular nature of our country.
Christmas is coming, may joy fill every home and the spirit be with you wherever you go. Thank goodness the season will never grow old for its Christmas time again to celebrate love and the joy is everywhere.
