This has reference to the news items in the Goan newspapers of 28th September 2014 a sitting Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has been unseated and sent to jail. A few years back some sitting ministers, MLA’s and powerful personalities also spent terms in jails. The bottom line here is justice prevails in India no matter how high, mighty and powerful these personalities are. All the personalities/politicians have amassed wealth beyond their disproportionate income. When any one
amasses wealth beyond their disproportionate income hundreds of people are deprived of their income in one way or the other, this a vicious cycle and hence the gap between the rich and the poor widens and over decades we have seen this gap increasingly widened thereby causing disparities of incomes between the rich and the poor. My hearty congratulations for the judiciary for effectively upholding the principles of justice.
My minds reverts back to a shameful incident that took place in New Delhi on 16th December 2012 when a young lady was gang raped and thrown out of a running train. The young lady ultimately died. That incident should have served as a trigger point for the President of India to use His powers as a Custodian of the Constitution of India, to protect the lives of many young ladies who have been raped and even murdered after the rape.
Now rapes are reported almost everyday and no stringent law has been enacted to prevent rapes once and for all. The President of India should have recommended to the Government of India then in 2012 to enact such a stringent law to prevent rapes and strict punitive measures for the rapists. Since rapes are still reported the Chief Secretaries of the concerned states should send reports on rapes to the Ministry of Law and Justice, Department of Justice New Delhi. The High Courts in the concerned states should keep the Supreme Court of India informed.
The Constitution of India is benevolent to all the citizens and describes India as welfare state where all its citizens can live in peace, in tranquility and in happiness. When are our young daughters and our ladies going to see the light of these words?
