I feel inspired to respond to Reena Maria D’Sa letter titled ‘Sridevi’s sudden death is a life lesson’.
So true and so authentic, when she has put before us the fact that, we won’t be taking anything with us when we die, well said and a good reminder to us who are trying to live our life in this world of sin and misery. What is going on in today’s news where we see so much of scams and day light robbery of huge amounts of money among the very rich is, shocking.
Every year, we come across one news scandal, crores of rupees done by the billionaires. Till when this scandal is being disclosed the fraudsters flew off India leaving the government wondering how to snatch and bring them back to the country and it’s a big question are they at peace? What has this money done for them?
Jesus condemns greed and warns that even if the man gets a larger share of the inheritance, it will not bring life. People don’t believe this. They think that if they can only get enough material things these things will produce the abundant life. Do riches bring the abundant life? “Millionaires who laugh”, said Andrew Carnegie, “are rare”. “You may have all the money in the world, and yet be a lonely, sorrowing man.” And Christina Onassis said, “Happiness is not based on money and the greatest proof of that is our family.” Or do you think it would be different for you if you had lots of money.
I would add to Reena’s thought provoking lines “Always remember if you end up dying suddenly you won’t be taking your money, or you property, fame,” but God will only ask you did you wipe away somebody’s tears? So it would be good to remember we are here on earth for a while to be a blessing, to participate in bringing about love, peace and compassion Not to rob and to collect wealth… The true drivers that make us human are not money and acquisition of wealth – they are love and compassion.
