Fifteen Killed, 3 Injured as Tempo Traveller Crashes Into Parked Trailer in Rajasthan’s Phalodi

In a tragic road accident, at least 15 people were killed and three others injured when a tempo traveller rammed into a parked trailer near Matoda village on the Bharat Mala Highway in Phalodi district, around 400 km from Jaipur.

According to police, all the victims were residents of the Sursagar area in Jodhpur and were returning from the Kolayat temple in Bikaner after offering prayers at the Kapil Muni Ashram.

“Fifteen passengers died on the spot, while two women sustained serious injuries. The injured were initially rushed to a hospital in Osian and later referred to Jodhpur for advanced treatment,” Jodhpur Police Commissioner Om Prakash said.

The collision’s impact was so severe that the front portion of the tempo traveller was completely crushed, trapping several passengers inside. Rescue teams, along with local police and residents, carried out a swift operation to extricate the victims and shift the injured to nearby hospitals.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma expressed deep sorrow over the incident and directed officials to provide all necessary assistance to the victims’ families and ensure the best medical care for the injured.

“The loss of lives in the road accident in the Matoda area of Phalodi is extremely tragic and heart-rending. My condolences are with the bereaved families. I have instructed district officials to ensure proper treatment for all the injured. May the departed souls rest in peace and the injured recover soon,” the Chief Minister posted on X.
