Gas Cylinder Theft Leaves Indore Watchmen Families On Edge

A daring daylight theft in Indore has left residents of a small watchmen’s quarters in shock after a masked man allegedly pushed a woman and escaped with an LPG cylinder from her kitchen.

The incident took place in the Velvet Garden locality, which falls under the limits of Khajrana Police Station in Madhya Pradesh. The area houses a few labourer families who work as watchmen and live in servant quarters provided at the site.

According to residents, concerns over theft had already prompted families to secure their LPG cylinders with iron chains and locks inside their homes. However, the precaution failed to prevent the shocking incident.

Manju Bai, one of the residents, said the man arrived at her house with his face partially covered and asked to meet her husband, calling him by name. Suspicious of the stranger, she refused to provide any details.

Moments later, the situation escalated when the man allegedly pushed her aside and rushed into the kitchen area. Within seconds, he picked up the gas cylinder and fled before she could react or raise an alarm.

The unusual theft quickly became the talk of the neighbourhood, sparking anxiety among other families living in the quarters. Residents said the incident has heightened fears about the safety of their homes and belongings.

Following the incident, several neighbours have begun taking extra precautions. Some have secured their cylinders with stronger chains and locks to prevent similar thefts.
