While several southern states are witnessing heavy rains, the weather in North India is gradually shifting, with a cool breeze sweeping across Delhi-NCR. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate showers are likely in parts of the national capital, which could bring down temperatures further and make mornings and evenings noticeably cooler.
The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall over the next five days in Kerala, Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu as Cyclone Montha is set to make landfall today. The department has also issued a nationwide weather warning for the next seven days, citing the formation of two separate weather systems in the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea. States including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Kerala, Karnataka, and Chhattisgarh have been placed on alert for intense rainfall and possible flooding.

Rain Alert in Jharkhand
The Ranchi Meteorological Center has predicted heavy rainfall across several districts of Jharkhand between October 28 and 31. Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected in many parts of the state, accompanied by strong winds.
Rain Warning in Bihar
The Patna Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert for Bihar starting October 28. A low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm, bringing heavy showers and gusty winds to multiple districts between October 29 and 31.
Rain Alert in West Bengal
West Bengal has also been put on alert for heavy rainfall from October 28 to 31. Although the cyclone is expected to make landfall along the Andhra Pradesh coast, its effects may extend to South Bengal, including Kolkata, South 24 Parganas, Medinipur, Howrah, Jhargram, Purulia, Bankura, and Hooghly.
The IMD has advised residents in the affected states to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall, and follow local authorities’ safety advisories.
