A woman from Maharashtra’s Satara district has alleged that the doctor who recently died by suicide was pressured to falsify her daughter’s postmortem report. The woman, identified as Bhagyashree Maruti Pachangne, claimed that the report for her daughter Deepali Maruti’s death was manipulated to conceal the real cause.
According to Pachangne, her daughter did not die a natural death, but the postmortem report failed to support that claim. She alleged that the doctor—who has now taken her own life—was coerced into signing a fake medical report and has demanded a thorough probe into both her daughter’s suspicious death and the circumstances leading to the doctor’s suicide.

The doctor, whose name has not been officially released, was reportedly working at a sub-district hospital and was responsible for conducting autopsies. She was allegedly facing immense pressure to alter medical findings, including postmortem reports.
In a shocking revelation, she left behind two suicide notes — one written on her palm and another four-page letter. In these notes, she accused Police Sub-Inspector Gopal Badane of sexual assault and tech professional Prashant Bankar of mental harassment. She also mentioned a former Member of Parliament and his two personal assistants, alleging that they had pressured her to declare an accused, Malhari Channe, medically fit.
A relative of the deceased doctor, reported that she was frequently asked by “political people in Phaltan” to manipulate medical reports. “She had complained multiple times against the PSI named in the note, but her complaints were ignored,” the relative said.
The case has sparked widespread outrage and calls for an independent investigation into both the doctor’s death and the alleged tampering of medical reports under political and police pressure.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the allegations, but the incident has reignited concerns about political interference in medical and forensic investigations in the state.
