The incident took place on Monday while the girl was working in a field. Reports suggest that Champi had been following and harassing the girl for some time, ignoring repeated warnings. After the incident, the girl informed her brothers, though police later confirmed that her brothers were not in the village during the attack.

The injured man was rushed to a nearby government hospital and later referred to Kanpur Medical College due to the seriousness of his condition. Station Inspector Ashok Kumar Saroj said Champi had been troubling the girl for days and that she acted in self defence during the struggle.

Senior officer Dinesh Tripathi added that an FIR has been filed and that the police will arrest the accused once he is medically stable. Authorities have assured that strict action will follow.
