A massive avalanche swept through the Sarbal area of Sonamarg in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district late Tuesday night, engulfing several houses and vehicles in its path. Despite the scale of the incident, authorities confirmed that no casualties or injuries have been reported so far.
Officials said the avalanche struck the popular tourist destination at around 10.12 pm, sending a huge volume of snow cascading down the mountain towards nearby residential structures and hotels. The sudden rush of snow caused panic in the area but residents managed to remain safe.
Dramatic CCTV footage captured the moment the avalanche advanced, showing thick sheets of snow engulfing buildings and vehicles along its path. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged people to remain cautious as weather conditions continue to pose risks in the region.
