In a significant success against Pakistan-backed terrorism, security forces have eliminated a notorious Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, dealing a major blow to militant networks operating in the region.
The slain terrorist, identified as Adil, a Pakistani national and close associate of senior Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Saifullah, had been on the run for the past 18 months. He was allegedly responsible for orchestrating multiple terror strikes while operating from natural caves and makeshift hideouts in the treacherous mountainous terrain of Kishtwar.

Adil was neutralised in the Chhatroo area during an operation codenamed Trashi-1. The week-long joint operation was carried out by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Acting on specific intelligence, security forces cordoned off the Chhatroo area on Wednesday evening, leading to a gunfight with the terrorist. Despite having escaped nearly twenty times in the past by breaking security cordons, Adil was finally pinned down and killed.
“On several occasions, he managed to break the cordon and flee from the encounter site. However, this time he was not lucky,” a senior security force officer said.
Security agencies believe the elimination of Adil will significantly weaken terror operations in the Kishtwar region and disrupt the activities of Pakistan-sponsored militant groups.
