Trump Threatens to ‘Obliterate’ Iran Power Plants Over Hormuz Blockade

US President Donald Trump dropped a bombshell on Truth Social Sunday, giving Iran 48 hours to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face devastating US strikes on its power plants.

“If Iran doesn’t fully open, without threat, the Strait of Hormuz, within 48 hours… the United States will hit and obliterate their various power plants, starting with the biggest one first!” Trump posted.

The strait, vital for 20% of global oil, has been choked by Iranian forces amid US-Israel attacks and Tehran’s counterstrikes. Oil prices are soaring, rattling markets worldwide.

Trump added the US won’t police it post-conflict: “The Hormuz Strait will have to be guarded… by other Nations who use it.”

In a twist, the administration waived sanctions on 140 million barrels of loaded Iranian oil, easing supply fears, per Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
