On Wednesday, two female journalists were taken into custody for reportedly sharing a video that included offensive comments about Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the state government. Pogadadanda Revathi, the managing director of a social media channel, along with reporter Bandi Sandhya, were apprehended by the cybercrime police in Hyderabad and have been placed in judicial custody until March 26.

The arrests were prompted by a complaint lodged on March 10 by the social media team of Telangana Congress, which alleged that the individuals were disseminating politically charged material. KT Rama Rao, the working president of BRS, condemned the arrests, raising concerns about the Congress government’s dedication to free speech.
The controversial video in question shows an elderly farmer using harsh language directed at Congress politicians, claiming they have not delivered on their election commitments. Authorities are currently trying to track down the farmer, with senior police officials noting that the video was filmed on February 10.
Prior to her arrest, Revathi shared a video claiming that the Chief Minister was trying to suppress her voice and that her family was facing threats.
