The United States has called for renewed efforts to strengthen its relationship with India, following recent tensions over tariffs and trade disputes. A newly released National Security Strategy Report for November underscores Washington’s view that India remains essential in countering strategic challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.
The report also highlights the importance of the Quad—an alliance between India, the US, Japan and Australia—formed to address security concerns posed by growing competition in the region.

“We must continue to improve commercial and other relations with India to encourage New Delhi to contribute to Indo-Pacific security, including through continued quadrilateral cooperation with Australia, Japan, and the United States,” the document states. It further notes that the US aims to work with allies and partners to prevent any single rival power from dominating the Indo-Pacific.
The latest policy push signals Washington’s intention to stabilise ties with New Delhi and enhance strategic coordination amid evolving geopolitical challenges.
