After his arrest in Anjuna, he was taken to Bengaluru for further investigation. Police later returned to Goa on April 3 along with the accused to recover part of the defrauded money, which was reportedly spent at a casino in Panaji.

However, on the night of April 4, the accused managed to escape from custody while inside the casino, allegedly taking advantage of the crowd and pushing past police personnel.

Following a complaint lodged by the Devanahhali Police, the Panaji Coastal Security Police registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and launched an intensive manhunt.

Using a combination of human intelligence and technical surveillance, police traced the accused to Dodamarg, where he was detained from an eco-farm and brought back to Goa for arrest.
