MARGAO: The Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) has announced its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Awards to honour ten distinguished tiatr artistes for their outstanding contributions to the Goan performance art form. The announcement was made by TAG President Anthony Barbosa during a media briefing held in Margao on Saturday.

The awards coincide with the birth anniversary celebrations of Pai Tiatrist Joao Agostinho Fernandes, regarded as the father of modern Goan tiatr. Divided into Commercial and Non-Commercial categories, the awards highlight the diverse talents and enduring legacies of these artists.
The awards will be presented on December 14, at the Pai Tiatrist Hall, Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, starting at 3.30 PM. The ceremony will include a special Konkani musical show featuring renowned singers accompanied by Norman Cardozo and his troupe.
The event will be presided over by TAG President Anthony Barbosa. Celebrated singer Hema Sardesai will be the Chief Guest, with Sagun Velip, Director of the Art and Culture Department, as the guest of honour. Special invitees include Domingos Araujo, filmmaker Rajendra Talak, and Sharmila Fernandes, granddaughter of Pai Tiatrist.

Francis Fernandes: Celebrated for over 50 tiatrs and numerous songs in Goan cultural circles
