Canacona: Canacona on Wednesday registered two more COVID-19 cases as two family members of corona patient tested positive for the virus, taking the tally to three in the taluka.
It may be recalled that earlier a KTC employee from Canacona tested positive for the virus.

Canacona sub-district administration sources said that out of the 21 swab samples collected from the family members of the infected person in Canacona, two tested positive for COVID-19. Sources added that the two positive cases include the wife and son of the infected person, who have been admitted to Shiroda Health Centre.
The reports of two of the 21 family members testing positive for the infection prompted the locals to appeal for a voluntary lockdown of the markets in Canacona municipality and Sristhal panchayat jurisdictions.
Concerned residents visited the Chaudi market area and called for shutting all shops from Thursday till Sunday.
Some shopkeepers said that they will cooperate and voluntarily shut their shops.
“We are doing it voluntarily as we are also concerned that if the market is opened then there is all likelihood of the virus spreading”, said a shopkeeper.
Diogo da Silva, president of the Association of Businessmen of Canacona said the safety of the people is more important than the four days of business, and that the association has decided to wholeheartedly support the call for a voluntary lockdown.
Jack Fernandes, president of NGO ‘Goenkar’ also appealed to Canacona residents not to step out of their houses for next four days and to follow the procedures laid by the authorities, if in case they have to move out for any emergencies.
Meanwhile, local MLA Isidore Fernandes got the public places sanitised which are in the vicinity to the residence of the infected persons.
As the news of the voluntary lockdown for next four days spread over social media, grocery shops at Chaudi had a massive crowd to buy provisions, which left the locals annoyed as no social distancing was followed.
