20 Zilla constituencies reserved for OBC, ST and 17 for women

PANJIM: A total of 20 Zilla constituencies have been reserved for Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Scheduled Castes and 17 wards have been reserved for women for the March 18 zilla panchayat (ZP) elections. Elections will be held for the 50 ZP seats across the State – 25 each in North and South. 
These would be the first ZP elections to be held on party lines, despite protests. The code of conduct would come in force from February 28. 
As per the government notification issued on late Wednesday, a total of 15 seats are reserved for OBCs including OBC women, five seats for STs and 17 wards for women (including women OBCs/STs). 
The reserved seats will be Arambol (OBC), Morjim (woman), Dhargal (OBC), Siolim (woman-OBC), Colvale (OBC), Sirsaim (woman-OBC), Socorro (Woman-OBC), St Cruz (woman), Chimbel (OBC), Corlim (woman), St Lawrence (ST), Karpur-Sarvan (woman), Mayem (OBC), Pale (woman), Honda (woman), Usgao-Ganje (OBC), Betqui-Candola (woman), Veling-Priol (ST), Queula (woman-OBC), Raia (woman-ST), Borim (OBC), Velim (woman-OBC), Guirdolim (woman-ST), Navelim (OBC), Sanvordem (woman), Rivona (OBC), Xeldem (woman), Barcem (ST), Khola (ST) and Poinguinim (woman). 
According to the State Election Commission, the voters list will be available from February 24 to 27 and the filing of nominations will occur from February 28 to March 4. The scrutiny of the applications would be done on March 5 while the last date for withdrawal is March 7. Counting will be held on March 19 and 20.
