A portion of a nearly 200-year-old banyan tree collapsed at Siolim–Marna, injuring two college students and blocking the road in the area.
According to locals, the tree had become dry and structurally weak over time, which likely caused the sudden collapse. The fallen branches obstructed vehicular movement and also disrupted nearby electricity lines.

Personnel from the Electricity Department and Fire Services rushed to the site and worked to remove the debris and restore normal traffic flow. Efforts were also made to address the damage to the power lines.
The injured students were taken for medical treatment, and their condition is reported to be stable. Authorities have since cleared the road and restored normalcy in the area.
