Sancoale gram sabha called off
CORTALIM: The Sancoale Panchayat Gram Sabha fixed for February 24 was called off after a High Court stay was obtained by some opposition panchas. Sarpanch Narayan G Naik told Herald that he had called off the gram sabha following a stay from the High Court.

Ramakant Borkar claimed that he and other panchas were forced to approach the court, given the state of affairs in the panchayat for the last two months. Borkar claimed that the Sarpanch was ousted by margin of 8-0 in the no-trust meeting on January 1 and since then no meeting had been called to elect a new Sarpanch. “All the correspondence received from the public is lying in the panchayat since no meeting had been held and the public are facing hardships,” Borkar told Herald.
Murgaon Nagrik Shigmotsav Samiti
PANJIM: The Murgaon Nagrik Shigmotsav Samiti has decided to celebrate Shigmotsav from March 27 to April 1. At the recent general body meeting the following committee have been selected to celebrate Shigmotsav 2013. ‘NISSAN Fest’ at Verna
PANJIM: A M Ventures, dealers for Nissan cars in Goa is celebrating its second anniversary and to commemorate the occasion, Nissan is celebrating the ‘Nissan Fest’ till February 24. Programme on Right to Education
PANJIM: Britona Free Legal Aid Cell and students of V M Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar organised a programme on Right to Education at St Elizabeth Church, Ucassaim recently.

Programme on waste management
PANJIM: The Saligao Village Panchayat has organised a waste management awareness-cum-entertainment programme for children aged between 10 and 15 years, on February 24, from 11 am onwards at the panchayat Hall.
The programme is part of an ongoing campaign to create awareness on solid waste management system designed by the panchayat’s garbage committee. There will be slideshows and demonstrations on segregation at source, collection and disposal of village waste. Though the programme is for children, families too are invited.
Programme on doctoral thesis
PANJIM: The Research Centre of Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College, Assagao, will organise a one-day research programme on ‘Reading and Reviewing Doctoral Thesis/Research Papers in Commerce, Management and Economics’ on February 25, at the college premises, from 9:30am onwards. The programme aims to provide a proper guidance to teachers about reading, reviewing and using reviewed output in setting realistic research objectives.
