CALANGUTE: Three nationals of Georgia allegedly involved in thefts at different wine stores in Calangute were nabbed after a dramatic chase on Saturday.
According to Calangute Police, the three foreign nationals would visit the wine shops and while one of them would keep the shopkeeper busy, the others would pick up bottles and hide them in their raincoats, before leaving the shop.
On Saturday, the three Georgian nationals – Giorgi Kokhreidze, Soso Darsavelidze and Kakha Jotchishvili – visited a wine store at Gaura Vaddo, Calangute and attempted to pick liquor bottles. They were, however, noticed by a group of locals, who had begun monitoring the activities of these foreign nationals.
Sensing trouble, the Georgian nationals walked out of the shop and fled in a car, but they were chased by locals and were intercepted along the Calangute-Arpora border. The locals then handed them over to Calangute Police.
The Calangute Police arrested the three accused in this connection and is investigating the case.
