4-member panel to assess juvenile cases constituted

PANJIM: The State government has constituted a four-member panel to assist the Juvenile Justice Boards (JJBs) in North Goa and South Goa in assessing the gravity of offences involving juveniles and recommending whether cases should be transferred to the Goa Children’s Court or handled by the Boards.

The panel will comprise of doctor nominated by the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (IPHB), Bambolim, Chairperson of Child Welfare Committee, North Goa/South Goa, Representative of ARZ NGO (Anyay Rahit Zindagi), Assistant Professor, V M Salgaoncar College of Law, Miramar.

Meanwhile, the State government has also extended tenure of Juvenile Justice Board, North Goa and South Goa by three more months or till constitution of the new boards.
