PANJIM: AAP Goa has condemned the government’s ‘clumsy and high-handed attempts’ to muzzle the tiatr fraternity by appointing a censor board, and want the proposal scrapped.
“Tiatr is a time-tested popular form of Goan art that has survived decades without such political or governmental oversight,” said Dr Oscar Rebello of the Goa unit of AAP, adding, “There is no doubt that this move is an attempt to muzzle the right to free expression, especially when exposing the misdeeds and scandals of politicians and governments.”
Arguing that as a political party, AAP welcomes all valid criticism including through the medium of tiatr, and feel that such an important medium that expresses the opinion of the common man should not be regulated.
