MAPUSA: The Aam Adami Party (AAP) candidate, Shekhar Naik filed his nomination papers for the Mapusa by-polls before the returning officer on Wednesday afternoon.
Interacting with reporters, AAP leader and South Goa Lok Sabha candidate Elvis Gomes said that the people of Goa are fed up with the BJP and Congress and they now see AAP as an alternative party.
“People have seen how the elected representatives have switched parties for their selfish gain. This will be an advantage for AAP. Mapusa being an urban constituency is collapsing and our candidate has been taking up issues and has also got support from the people of Mapusa. He is a good social worker as he has been raising civic issues on social media and getting it resolved,” Gomes said.
Shekhar Naik said that there was barely any change seen in Mapusa. Nothing much has changed since 1999 besides few cosmetic changes. “Incomplete bus stand work, Mapusa market chaos, faulty electrical wiring, garbage menace, bad parking facilities and pathetic roads are witnessed. Everything has been done for the migrants but nothing for the people of Mapusa. He gave them voting cards and converted them into his vote bank’” Naik said.
