Kandolkar to ‘seek’ Lobo’s help to resolve Mapusa garbage problem

MAPUSA: Congress candidate for the Mapusa by-poll Sudhir Kandolkar said that he would seek advice from Calangute MLA Michael Lobo to resolve the Mapusa garbage problem as it is a major issue in the town.
“The acting Speaker, Michael Lobo, has resolved the garbage problem in Calangute by setting up a treatment plant and I will take his help.  The Mapusa council made an attempt to set up a treatment plant, but things did not succeed. I have been always vocal, but due to the slow movement things are pending. Now the garbage issue needs to be solved,” Kandolkar said addressing the press at the North Goa Congress district office on Wednesday.
Responding to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s remark that he (Kandolkar) took a fast decision and joined the Congress, he said, “I have not taken any decision hurriedly. After approaching and seeking the opinion of the people of Mapusa who supported me, I took the step. People were of the opinion that I should contest the election either as an Independent candidate or on any party ticket. Being a loyal worker, I have worked for the BJP but now I will be loyal to Congress and work for the development of Mapusa.”
He also spoke about the positive response he was receiving during his door to door campaign.
North Goa Congress District President Vijay Bhike pointed out that there is Congress wave in Mapusa and many from other parties are joining them.
