PANJIM: The Aam Aadmi Party on Friday condemned the BJP’s misuse of the police force to intimidate the AAP leaders and volunteers.
Despite this intimidation, the AAP stood firm that it would not back down and would continue to expose the nexus between the Congress and BJP that has destroyed the State. The AAP also highlighted the fact that the police have failed to take any action against the supporters of the Congress turned BJP MLA Wilfred D’Sa (Babashan) who indulged in violence and assaulted peaceful AAP volunteers
In a press release, the AAP stated on the first day their volunteers had gone to offer cake to the turncoat MLA. However, they met with violence. Even on the second day, despite police presence the violence was repeated in the presence of the police and media.
“It’s shocking that the police took action not on the BJP supporters who committed the violence but against the AAP leaders who faced the violence. AAP Convenor Rahul Mhambre even received the notice while on mourning period for his father’s passing away. Along with Mhambre even Vice President Adv Pratima Coutinho has received a notice,” the AAP mentioned.
“Mhambre has been summoned to the Maina Curtorim Police Station on the July 17. This despite there being no case at all,” the party stated.
“We are completely confident that we have nothing to fear. In fact we have all the evidence that it was Babashan’s followers who were violent,” said AAP Spokesperson Valmiki Naik, while showing photographs of the same.
“AAP is not here for power, but to change the system in Goa. And we will not be pressurised by any misuse of administrative power,” said AAP leader Sandesh Telekar Dessai.
“We stand strongly with our leaders. Our party volunteers stand firmly with our leaders and no one will shake us,” he added.
