Abhishek Sharma Fined, Gets Demerit Point After SRH Win Over KKR

Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma has been penalised by the Indian Premier League following his side’s win over the Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Thursday, April 2. The young batter received one demerit point and was fined 25 percent of his match fee for breaching the league’s Code of Conduct during the match.

Code of Conduct Breach

According to officials, Abhishek was found guilty under Article 2.3 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which deals with the use of offensive, obscene, or profane language during a game. The rule applies to any language that is clearly audible to on-field officials, spectators, or television audiences, including words picked up by stump microphones. Such behaviour, even if expressed in frustration at personal performance, is considered a violation.
