Accused remanded in sexual abuse case

The 64-year-old accused arrested in the sexual abuse of four-year-old girl has been remanded to three days police custody by Judicial Magistrate First Class, Margao on Friday.

MARGAO: The 64-year-old accused arrested in the sexual abuse of four-year-old girl has been remanded to three days police custody by Judicial Magistrate First Class, Margao on Friday.

The accused was referred for medical examination Friday evening after he fainted in the Margao police lock-up.

Margao PI Sudesh Naik said the accused was referred for medical examination and the report is awaited.

The Margao police had on late Thursday evening arrested Leo Diniz, a caretaker of a school van after the mother of the child filed a complaint that her daughter had been sexually abused by the caretaker in the van. The victim child was a student of kinder garden school reportedly run by the wife of the accused. The accused is alleged to have sexually abused the child while she was being dropped home. The child has identified the accused at the police station on Thursday.
