Action against schools violating safety guidelines: Edu Dept

PANJIM: Directorate of Education (DoE) has asked all the schools to educate and instruct parents to restrain their kids, who are underage, from riding two-wheelers.
In its circular, DoE director Nagaraj Honnekeri has urged schools to strictly follow the guidelines with regards to school bus safety, three-wheeler vehicles and ferrying students.
“I have instructed the schools to educate parents in their respective PTA meetings to restrain students, who are underage from riding two-wheelers,” the director said.
The department has also asked the schools to submit a compliance report by the end of each academic year.
The schools have been reminded that they have to apply for the necessary permit at the Transport Department, in order to use school buses for the transportation of children.
Last year in September, the DoE had warned that they will take action against schools found to be violating the safety guidelines for school buses.
The transport dept has already made it clear that 15-year-old vehicles, should not be used for transportation.
