According to information, the Vidyanagar Residents Welfare Association (VRWA) had petitioned Saldanha to find a solution to the accidents taking place at the busy junction, which facilitates road access to several other areas in Zuarinagar.
“We ourselves saw how dangerous the traffic scenario is at the MES College junction. Thus, I will take up the issue with the NHAI so that the risk of accidents faced by pedestrians and motorist can be reduced,” said Alina.
She was speaking to reporters after inspecting the junction road with Sancoale Sarpanch Ramakant Borkar and VRWA members on Wednesday. Other issues faced by Vidyanagar residents were also brought to her notice.
The issues of encroachments by few residents beside the main road leading to MES College, pending work of footpath and gutters from the main highway to the college, inadequate water supply, and lack of security in the area was placed before the MLA.
Saldanha assured that the moment she receives formal representation mentioning all pending works, she would approach the authorities for quick solutions.
On the issue of encroachments, she instructed the Sancoale panchayat to take help from the Town and Country Planning department and carry out a survey of encroachments from the main road to the college and take action against the encroachers.
