In a fresh bout of trouble, a vendor has filed a polcie complaint against Corporation of the City of Panjim (CCP) corporator Uday Madkaikar accusing him of cheating the former by allotting one of his shops to another person.
Shaikh Mustak, original owner of three shops in the new CCP market in 2008 approached Madkaikar for removing the internal partition walls of his shops. According to him, the corporator demanded Rs 40,000, which he paid.
“I requested Uday Madkaikar to remove the internal partition walls of the three shops and he demanded Rs 40,000 which was paid to him. He made arrangements to remove the same. A month later, he approached me and said that shop 117-C and 118-C cannot be merged into one and hence he will have to again put the partition separating the two,” Mustak said in his complaint.

The complainant was later informed that Madkaikar had rented out his third shop – 118-C to one Samir Cloth Merchant.
In a similar case, Panjim police on February 10 registered a case against the sitting corporator for cheating a shop owner Altaf Jamadar by first accepting money from him for allotting a shop in the Panaji municipal market and then giving it away to another person.
