The Department of Town and Country Planning (TCP) has cancelled the provisional permission granted for a change of zone at Arambol, following concerns raised by local residents. Announcing the decision, Town and Country Planning (TCP) Minister Vishwajit Rane said that residents of Arambol had met him and expressed their objections, after which the issue was carefully reviewed.
“The matter was examined in detail and the decision was taken in the interest of the people,” he stated, assuring both Arambol and Pernem residents that their sentiments would always be respected.
Rane emphasised that the government remains committed to a balanced approach to development, taking into account public health, environmental protection, and holistic growth. He added that continued engagement with all stake-holders will ensure development decisions are made responsibly and with sensitivity to public concerns.
The minister also noted that the official notification confirming the cancellation of the provisional zone change will be issued shortly, marking the finalisation of the decision. The move has been welcomed by residents who had raised environmental and community concerns over the proposed change, reinforcing the administration’s stated commitment to inclusive and sustainable development planning.
