PANJIM: One of the first forms of art in India was the bioscope. As an ode to this magical box and to celebrate Indian cinema, the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) in collaboration with Bija are organising an art exhibition titled ‘Bioscope’.
The exhibition will feature works of four artists, namely, Harmony award-winner Rajeshree Thakker, acclaimed printmaker Viraj Naik, Praveen Naik and Vasudev Shetye. The project is produced and curated by Nayna Bandekar and Apurva Kulkarni.
For Bioscope, the artists have created art works based on films as wide ranging as Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Aata Hai? to Dum Maaro Dum and from Elipatthayam (The Rat Trap) to Kaminey.
“With creativity and playfulness ruling the roost, it stands to reason that Bioscope will become as unforgettable as the cinema it holds dear,” says ESG vice chairman Vishnu Surya Wagh.
With its inauguration on November 16, the exhibition will be open to public for the first three days. From November 20 to 30, during the 44th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), entry will be restricted only to delegates and other authorised visitors.
The exhibition will be inaugurated at 6:30pm by Wagh in the presence of the guest of honour, acclaimed filmmaker Saeed Akhtar Mirza at the Maquinez Palace Art Gallery.
