A group of migrants, staying at the relief camp at Sports Complex at Bhutea Bhat, called on Shankwalkar on Monday and complained that they are facing water problem. They also urged Shankwalkar to extend their stay at the Sports Complex, as they are yet to make alternate arrangements.
Speaking to Herald, Shankwalkar said he had informed the migrants to vacate the Sports Complex by August 25. “The migrants approached me on Monday morning and brought to my notice that they are facing water problem. They also urged me to extend their stay at the relief camp, as they are yet to make an alternate arrangement,” he said.
“I have assured them to supply water by tanker, but they cannot stay at the relief camp forever, as I have to accommodate the migrants of the second phase of demolition that is going to take place shortly,” said Shankwalkar.
“I have given another four days extension. During the time they have to make their own arrangement to stay elsewhere at their own cost,” added Shankwalkar.
It may be recalled that on July 11 and 19, about 77 illegal shanties were demolished and the migrants were housed at Sports Complex at Bhutea Bhat, Baina.
