‘Baseless’: India Dismisses Claims of Port Use by US

India on Tuesday rejected as “baseless and fabricated” reports claiming that American forces are using Indian ports to support strikes on Iran. The Ministry of External Affairs said the assertions are entirely unfounded and do not align with India’s policies.

The controversy emerged after former US Army Colonel Douglas Macgregor, in an interview with One America News Network, alleged that the US Navy was relying on Indian facilities because its own infrastructure had been compromised. The remarks circulated widely online, triggering speculation.

The MEA’s fact-check division dismissed the claims as “fake and false,” cautioning citizens and media outlets against amplifying unverified information. It reiterated that India does not permit foreign militaries to conduct offensive operations from its territory or ports.

Maintaining its diplomatic balance, India once again called for calm and dialogue in the escalating West Asia conflict. Officials underlined that spreading baseless narratives at such a critical time undermines responsible discourse and regional stability.
