CORTALIM: Residents of Cortalim and nearby villages had to go without beef for the fifth consecutive day after the lone beef stall in the Cortalim fish market remained closed.
Villagers from Cortalim, Sancoale and even from Agassaim and Neura who especially procure beef at Cortalim had to turn back with no assurance of when the sale of beef would resume.
It may be recalled that the sale of meat was abruptly stopped following High Court’s ad interim ban on cattle slaughter at the Goa Meat Complex at Usgao.
The temporary ban on cattle slaughter also has the workers of the beef stalls worried as there is an air of uncertainty over the resumption of the activity.
