BELGAUM: Tension prevailed in a village about 12 kms from Belgaum over the murder of a teenage girl, who was also allegedly raped.
According to details from Marihal police station, the second-year college girl was found dead in an open agricultural field off the Sulebhavi-Khangaon road on Saturday morning.
Police were baffled to find Marathi letters written on the girl’s body using a sharp weapon. According to parents, the teenager had come to Belgaum on Friday to answer her annual examination.
A case is registered at Marihal police station following a complaint lodged by the father of the deceased.
On getting information, Deputy Commissioner Munish Moudgil and the superintendent of police visited Modga village to get first-hand information of the incident.
