MAYEM: Villagers from Bicholim, Dodamarg and surrounding areas have urged the Maharashtra State Corporation to start its buses from Dodamarg to Belgaum via Chorla Ghat.

The villagers made the demand as they were inconvenienced due to the closure of Tillari Ghat road for traffic due to its repairs.

It may be recalled that the Tillari Ghat road, which is a short cut to proceed to Belgaum and Kolhapur has been closed for traffic since January 4 due to repairs undertaken by Tillari Irrigation Development Corporation, Maharashtra division.

The Tillari Ghat road was in a dilapidated condition. The people will have to travel via Amboli Ghat road which is about 75 kms long compared to the Tillari road.

“If the ST bus service is started from Dodamarg to Belgaum via Chorla Ghat, it will be much beneficial for us than to take a long route via Amboli,” said Kamlakant Manerikar from Dodamarg-Maneri.
