PANJIM: Thirty six candidates on Tuesday filed their nominations for 30 wards of Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP).
Filing of nomination papers for Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP), six municipal council and by-poll to Navelim ZP and 22 wards of different village panchayats gained momentum on Tuesday as many candidates assume it as auspicious day.

Barring one, 29 candidates supported by Panaji MLA Babush Monserrate filed their nominations. Monserrate, who was present outside the office of the returning officer, accompanied most of the candidates at the time of filing nominations.
Former CCP deputy mayor Edward George, who is supposed to file nomination for ward 17, could not get it done on Tuesday as he had to undergo treatment for skin infection and will file his nomination on Wednesday instead, informed Monserrate.
Others who filed their nominations were former Panjim BJP mandal president
Vishnu Naik (ward no. 10). He was accompanied by former Panjim BJP MLA Sidharth Kuncalienkar and spokesman Dattaprasad Naik while filing his nomination.
All filed one set of nominations while, former CCP mayor Shubham Chodankar filed two sets of nominations. Monserrate has named his panel as ‘Together for Progressive Panaji’.
Yadhaw Naik (ward 28) was the first candidate to file his nomination on Monday.
Meanwhile, candidates backed by Panjim citizens will file their nominations on Wednesday even as the last date to file nomination papers is Thursday, March 4.
A total of 132 candidates filed their nominations for six municipal councils on Tuesday taking the total number of nominations to 167.
