PANJIM: As the BJP led state government failed to initiate an inquiry against the controversial audio tape related to the Rafale deal involving Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, even after they alleged it is “doctored”, the Congress party made a dig at the saffron leadership stating that “it is confused and nervous as which way to go”.
Congress central leadership had exposed a tape revealing conversation between Rane and an unidentified person in which the former is heard stating that CM Manohar Parrikar has Rafale related files in his bedroom due to which he has been on the post despite health issues.
Responding to media questions as why it feels BJP has not ordered any inquiry into the audio tape even as it claims to be doctored, Congress President Girish Chodankar said “BJP government is Goa seems to be confused and nervous and don’t know which way to go. The entire confusion is out. They may pretend that audio is doctored but Goans are convinced that the voice is that of the concerned person”.
“The issue was raised in the Parliament by our national leadership. So, definitely we will wait for further instruction or will talk to them. Since Parliament is in session, we don’t want to disturb our party’s strategy. But yes, if required we will take up the issue,” Chodankar said responding to a question whether congress will raise this issue at local level including filing and police complaint to ascertain the authenticity of the tape.
Chodankar said that the Lok Sabha Speaker was biased as she did not allow party’s National President Rahul Gandhi to table controversial audio tape related to the Rafale deal.
“In the Parliament, our national president Rahul Gandhi was not allowed to table the audio tape (related to Rafale deal). You know these speakers also…They are all bias and they are working on the dictates of the prime minister,” Chodankar alleged.
Congress leader demanded that the government should have “got the audio tape authenticated through the world standard (voice testing) laboratories.”
Ruling out that any of Congress leader was involved in such kind of fake things, Chodankar said “Congress is never involved in such acts. Everyone knows who is expert in such things”.
When asked about the rumours of Vishwajit Rane’s father and a congress MLA Pratapsinh Rane quitting the party, Chodankar said Rane has been a very senior congressman. “He has his own stature, no one needs to be proved what he is. He is loyal and senior congressman,” he added.
Chodankar said the dirty trick department of BJP has been master in spreading rumours.
