The Goa unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party today pledged support to the all India bandh on July 5 called to protest against price hike in the oil prices and to press for roll back in the price hike.
Announcing this at a press conference on Wednesday here, Leader of the Opposition Manohar Parrikar maintained that they are not opposed to the decontrol of oil prices, but don’t want any kind of artificial increase in taxation or unlimited taxation.
He also suggested that the State Government can surely share some burden by lessening impact of price hike by Rs 2-3.
Recent price hike will further heighten inflationary pressure as rise in oil prices always have cumulative effect, he said pointing out that further increase in the prices of vegetables and other products will be felt two-three weeks later.
BUS OWNERS BANDH
While BJP will protest on Monday throughout the country against the price hike, the All Goa Bus Owners Association (AGBOA) will agitate by keeping the buses off the road demanding rise in bus fare.
Interestingly, BJP will call for support of the bus owners association for their bandh.
