PANJIM: Rumours of a Cabinet rejig have been doing the rounds for quite some time. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Goa unit President and Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Sadanand Shet Tanavade on Wednesday hinted at a possible cabinet reshuffle this year.

Speaking to mediapersons after meeting Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and former MPs Vinay Tendulkar and Narendra Sawaikar at the CM official residence at Altinho, he said, “I feel you would be able to witness cabinet reshuffle in 2025.”
He stated that all BJP Mandal elections in the State will be held by January 10.
He also informed that the party is working towards strengthening its organisational structure in view of 2027 Assembly polls.
“As I have said there is a need to strengthen the party in the New Year. We have to bring the Bharatiya Janata Party to power again in 2027. Organisational elections are to be held. Tomorrow, a meeting of core members will be held at the Mapusa office as well as at the party office in South Goa.”
Tanavade said, “During the meeting he discussed matters related to organisation as elections of party office bearers will be completed by January 10.’
There were reports of an unexpected cabinet reshuffle throughout 2024. However,
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant remained mum when questioned by the media on the cabinet reshuffle.
After returning to the Chief Ministerial post in March 2022, Pramod Sawant has just reshuffle in his cabinet. In November 2023, he dropped then Environment Minister Nilesh Cabral and inducted Aleixo Sequeira, one of the eight Congress defectors.
However, this had perplexed the people, who wondered why Cabral was made a sacrificial lamb in favour of a rebel MLA, who had switched sides in 2022.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, however, had stated that Cabral resigned from the Council of Ministers at the request of the BJP leadership.
